Security system and exterior lighting for a commercial client

Summary of work carried out

Adaptive area lighting and security system on an industrial site

  • Design and lighting calculations — DIALux calculations for three areas, with target levels to EVS-EN 12464-2:2025
  • Cabling — power and data cabling
  • Construction of outdoor distribution boards — assembly, installation and connection
  • Control system installation — DALI controllers, motion sensors, zone-based control
  • Smart system integration — management of modes and scenes from a phone app
  • Testing and documentation

A yard whose purpose keeps changing

Sama territoorium on kord parkla, kord ladustamisala.

  • Area in front of the office — full lighting during working hours, then night mode driven by sensors
  • Vehicle movement area — minimum level, rising when movement is detected
  • Rear yard — permanently at minimum level, lit only when needed

Standard ja vastavus: kui alal inimesi ei viibi, tohib nõutavat keskmist valgustustihedust vähendada. Adaptiivsus aitab kokku hoida püsikuludelt.

After dark the lighting switches on according to sunrise and sunset algorithms, with no photocell — there is no sensor to clean or replace.

Miks just Adaptiivne?

The system has 18 luminaires, drawing 1206 W in total at full output. The calculation follows the logic of EN 13201-5:2015, at 11 hours a day, 365 days a year:

  • Continuous full output: approx. 4,842 kWh per year
  • Adaptive, at 10% active time: approx. 1,532 kWh per year
  • Difference: roughly 50–60% saved on energy

This is a calculated estimate — the actual result depends on how the yard is used. The saving is not limited to the electricity bill: luminaires that do not run at full output all night last longer.

Ilma kuutasuta, ilma tootja poolse lukustuseta

A manufacturer's own remote management platform would have come with an annual licence fee. We built the solution around IoT instead: all control and monitoring belongs to the client, and the phone app and remote access cost nothing to run. The client can change modes and scenes themselves — with no DALI specialist, no software licence and no dependency on one particular service provider. Extending the system requires nothing more than a competent electrician.

The controllers comply with IEC 62386-101 and -207 and are DALI Alliance certified. The equipment carries CE marking under the RED, EMC, LVD and RoHS directives.

A security system that adapts to how the yard is used

Sama probleem kordub turvapoolel.

  • Video surveillance — a camera with analytics that distinguishes people from vehicles, and a PTZ camera with optical zoom that can zoom 25× across the yard without losing image sharpness.
  • Juhtmevabad välisandurid — ümbertõstetavad vastavalt vajadusele
  • Door contacts — detecting containers and storage rooms being opened
  • Outdoor siren — can also be triggered manually from the phone
  • Compatible with an alarm receiving centre — can be connected to a monitoring company if required

Compliance and standards

Valgustuse standardinõuded ja energiatõhusus:

  • EVS-EN 12464-2:2025 — lighting of outdoor work places; levels set according to the intended use of each area (Table 8, items 8.1 and 8.2; Table 18, item 18.1)
  • EN 13201-5:2015 — energy performance indicators for road lighting

Control system and DALI controllers:

  • IEC 62386-101 — general requirements for the DALI bus; single-master application controller (clause 4.6.4)
  • IEC 62386-207 — control of DALI LED control gear (DT6)
  • DALI Alliance certified — the devices are listed in the DALI Alliance official product database
  • UK PSTI Act — cyber security compliance

CE marking under the following directives:

  • 2014/53/EU — radio equipment (RED)
  • 2014/30/EU — electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)
  • 2014/35/EU — low voltage (LVD)
  • 2011/65/EU — restriction of hazardous substances (RoHS)

Miks just selline lahendus?

A site whose use keeps changing cannot be solved with a fixed installation. A fixed lighting solution means running at full output across every area, all the time. A hard-wired alarm means that every rearrangement brings new installation work. Either way, the client keeps paying for the privilege of changing the solution — and it does not have to be that way.
